eBay step by step for listing products

Last Updated: Mar 01, 2017 06:49PM CET

Ebay is a multibillion-dollar business with operations localized in over 30 countries. If it exists in the world, it probably is for sale on eBay.

ONE : Make sure you meet all eBay requirements.

For the eBay channel, in order for Shopping Feed to list products on your eBay seller account/store-front, you must have the following:
  1. Your eBay Seller account must be registered as a Business.
  2. There must be an active PayPal account tied to your eBay Seller account.
  3. The eBay Seller account must have an eBay store/subscription.

TWO: Set color and size fields.

This can be done with the manage colors and sizes tab. Below are fields that have been discovered in your product data. These fields act as containers, which hold specific information about your product variation. Among them are your product variation attributes. These variation attributes define the parent-child relationship you've created in your store-front. For each attribute; if this is used as a drop down option on your store-front, you want to make sure you assign it as a Color, Size or Other.

If you have any products that use two drop down options (Such as Pillows who use Size AND Pattern), please make sure to assign one attribute as a color and the other attribute as a size (ie. assign Size as Size and Pattern as Color) This will help Shopping Feed understand any products that use 2 variation attributes (drop down options) on the store-front and be able to replicate that in the outgoing datafeed to the marketplace/channel.

Marketplaces typically only allow products to have two drop down lists, so for products that use 3 drop down options (variation attributes), please let us know so that our Support Team can further assist you.

THREE: Connect to the eBay Channel.

Please enter the Paypal email address associated with your eBay account.  Shipping cost will now need to be entered.  Free shipping should be set at 0.  Any number entered will create a flat shipping cost.  If you would like to fine tune your shipping costs please contact support so we can assist you.

FOUR: Categorize your products.

These are the most broad and generalized categories for your listings. (ie, electronics, clothing, home.) Please do so by typing in the category box and finding the category that is most appropriate for your listings. Click here for more details.

FIVE: Select from the following two options:

Yes/No Do you want to list ALL your products?  Yes will send all of your product to eBay for purchase.  Shopping Feed updates the data in Amazon from shoppify four to six times a day.
Yes/No Do you want your eBay orders to import back to your store-front?  Yes will take all orders from eBay immediately and send them to Shopify for fulfillment.  Inventories are updated when orders are fulfilled.

By default these options are both set to yes however if you need this altered Shopping Feed support can instruct you on how to do so.

SIX: In the eBay dashboard complete assigning categorizing your products if you have not already done so.

Note your products must be categorized in order to be listed. Categories help buyers find your products for purchase.

SEVEN: In the AutoTag page go through each category and ensure all the required fields are entered.

Once set these values are assigned to all of your listings in that category. These attributes are based on the Amazon categories set for each product type (Reference STEP FOUR 'categorization'). These fields can be applied statically here or pulled dynamically from your store front.  Click here to go to the Auto Tag page.

In addition, for any field that asks for Size, it is recommend to use the field {autotag_size}. And for any field that asks for Color, you use the {autotag_color} field. Start typing "auto" into the require field and you'll see options drop down for you to choose from. Then select either autotag_size or autotag_color based if its asking for Color or Size.

Save any changes made within this tab.

EIGHT: From the eBay Dashboard turn on products with the switches at the top of all of the categories.

Click here to go to the eBay Dashboard.  If this switch is grey than the products under that switch are turned off.  If this switch is orange then some of your products for that switch are turned on.  If this switch is green then all of your products for that switch are turned on.

By clicking into a category you can expend that category and then you can turn on the parent products in bold or various variations/children of those products listed beneath the parent.  If you see the switch is grey it means that listing is turned off. Note you must turn on the parent product for any of its variations to be listed.  Parents can be listed with no variations/children so long as it is turned on.

Shopping Feed sends several feeds to eBay when doing an update. Your images may take some time to process and display.

NINE: Update the Channel.

The update button sends your changes to the queue, to update your marketplace. Updates normally don't take very long, but during high traffic periods can take as long as an hour.

TEN (OPTIONAL): Troubleshoot Errors in the Error Investigator.

If there are any errors you will see them in the Error Investigator. Here you can click on any errors. You will get a description, along with instructions on how to resolve the error. We also recommend downloading the Product Error Report at the top of the page if there are any errors that are unclear. If you have any difficulty resolving errors please Open a ticket, we are more than happy to assist.

We encourage all of our clients to reach out whenever they need help. We are always happy to schedule a call.  Also see our Tools and Ebay Pro Tips for more advanced Shopping Feed features.
