How to set a minimum / maximum price on your products for Amazon

For Amazon, it is possible to set a minimum or maximum prices on your product listings. This is a matter of security, helping by creating a price threshold that cannot be crossed.

If an update is made on a product where the price is too low or too high (either by error or faulty repricing), the update of the price can be blocked, and an alert is triggered on the Amazon side.

There are two ways to set minimum and maximum prices on Amazon:

  • Directly from Shopping Feed.
  • From Amazon directly.
We will detail in this article the two methods, after having seen how to create these minimum and maximum prices if necessary.

Fill the Max and Min price fields with the correct data

The purpose of this first step is to define fields which specify the minimum and maximum values according to each of your products. Prices that fall outside of this range would result in an error.

To set these values, the simplest is to proceed with rules on Shopping Feed.

If you have a Shopping Feed field that contains your purchase price, you can use it to complete the minimum price field. If you do not have one, you can use your price field, and modify it with a rule.
  • We advise you to create specific fields for these new price range attributes, using our dedicated tool Create New Fields.
  • You can name these fields for example, min_prix_Amz and max_prix_Amz
Then, let's imagine that a price will never fall below 60% of its purchase price price, and that it will not increase more than 50% of its purchase price. A rule to achieve this range would look like:

Affected channels : Amazon
Condition : none
Result :
{min_price_Amz} becomes {price} multiply by 0.6

{max_price_Amz} becomes {price} multiply by 1.5

Set mini / max prices from Shopping Feed

Since March 2018, it is possible to set its Minimum / Maximum prices on Amazon Channel from Field Mapping

The fields to configure are available in the Amazon field mapping:
  • MinimumSellerAllowedPrice is the minimum price at which you agree to sell your product. If the price sent is less than this minimum price set, Amazon will not take into account the price update.
  • MaximumSellerAllowedPrice is the maximum price at which you agree to sell the product. If the price sent is higher than the maximum price set, Amazon will not take into account the price update.

Set mini / max prices from Amazon on the Seller Central

In order to inform these price data on Amazon, here are the necessary steps. (It is possible to complete only minimum price or maximum price).

1. Create a custom export with information

In this custom export, you must add two columns or three columns:
  • your product id (identical to Amazons)
  • your minimum price field
  • your maximum price field for this product.
To create these fields in your export, drag them in place from your Custom Export creation page.

Now that your custom export exists, save the export. Access the new export created and switch on all your products from its Dashboard.

(Note: If you have products with variations, it will be necessary to click on the settings tab of this custom export, and check the box "Include child products in the outgoing feed". Then it will be necessary to return to the dashboard page to switch on all products).

2. Fill in the Amazon file and import it to the Amazon Central Seller

The last step is to use the custom export you created to import the min / max prices from your Amazon seller central.  Before you do so, it is necessary to copy the data found in your custom export and paste it into columns found in the Amazon Inventory Loader file (found in your Amazon Seller account or at this link).

Paste the relevant data from your custom export in the columns
  • "sku"
  • "minimum-seller-allowed-price"
  • "maximum-seller-allowed-price"

Save the edited inventory loader template you just created, and run it from the Inventory page in your Amazon seller account .
